How they help on the trail

When your arch flattens, the tissue under your foot stretches with every step, and that's where arch and heel pain often starts. The firm arch shell holds your foot in a supported position, the deep heel cup keeps your heel centered, and the shock pads soften the impact on descents.

What's inside

Five layers: a soft velvet top, a cushioned PU base, a forefoot shock pad, a firm TPU arch shell, and a heel shock pad. The arch rises about 35 mm at its highest point.

Fit & sizing

Remove your boot's original insole and slide these in its place. Choose your normal shoe size. Open the size guide above for exact insole lengths.

Shipping & 60-day guarantee

Shipping is free on every order. Orders are processed within 24 hours and you'll get tracking by email. Every order is covered by our 60-day trail guarantee. See the shipping policy and return policy.

Care

Hand wash with mild soap and cool water, then air dry away from direct heat. Replace about once a year with regular hiking, or sooner if the cushioning feels flat.

Find your size

1. Start with your normal shoe size. Find it in the table below to see your insole size and length.

2. Check the length. Pull the insole out of the boot you'll wear these in. Lay it flat and measure from the back of the heel to the tip of the toe. It should be within about 0.5 cm of the length for your size.

3. No removable insole? Put on your hiking socks, stand on a sheet of paper with your heel against a wall, mark the tip of your longest toe and measure from the wall. Add about 1 cm to get your insole length.

4. Between two sizes? Size up.

Hiker with a heavy pack mid-climb, low angle on the boots

Why flat feet hurt more on the trail

A flat or low arch drops further every time you step under a pack. That extra stretch on the bottom of your foot adds up over the miles, along with ankles that roll inward on uneven ground.

The Flat & Low Arch insole gives your arch a firm floor to rest on, so it stops collapsing with every step.

Five layers. One job: keep you moving.

  • A
    Firm arch shell

A TPU shell under the arch that holds its shape when your pack is heavy and your legs are tired.

  • B
    Deep heel cup

Cradles your heel so it stays centered on rocks, roots, and off-camber trail.

  • C
    Heel shock pad

Softens the hit on every downhill step, where your heel lands hardest.

  • D
    Forefoot cushioning

Takes pressure off the ball of your foot on long climbs.

  • E
    Breathable top layer

A soft, sweat-wicking surface that stays comfortable on all-day hikes.

Not sure which arch you have?

Take the 30-second wet footprint test. Your print shows how much of your arch touches the ground.

  1. Wet the sole of your bare foot
  2. Step onto a paper bag or dark towel
  3. Step off and compare your print
  • Full print: flat or low arch

You see almost your whole sole, with little or no curve on the inside edge. Your arch drops under load.

    Shop Flat & Low Arch
  • Half curve: regular arch

About half of the inside edge is missing from the print. A natural arch that still tires on long days.

    Shop Regular & High Arch
  • Thin band: high arch

Only a thin strip connects heel and forefoot. Pressure piles onto your heel and the ball of your foot.

Ordinary insoles, the quality is okay. I ordered the largest size, but in fact the size is 43, 28 cm!

I didn't like them because they are not fully padded.

Just like in the picture, for the price they are great, they are firm but not rigid and have that rubber support in the heel as well as the arch.
But be careful! Since I put these insoles in my shoes, they felt comfortable and firm, but then when I went out and walked more, my feet started to hurt. . I think it's better to consult a doctor to have custom insoles made according to the size of your foot, arch, etc. . .

The material insoles are of good quality, but they do not provide the rigidity needed for my issue. They smell a bit like plastic.

I've tried those really soft gel inserts and they felt comfy at first but my arches still got sore on longer walks. Prefer the feel of these in my hiking shoes. Took my dog out on the trails Saturday and ended up doing the longer loop because my feet were feeling good.

K

I used to say I just wasnt a hiking person, but really I hated how much my feet hurt by the end. Got the low arch pair and tried them on a trail near home before taking them anywhere longer. There was enough of a difference that I wanted to go again the next weekend. My feet still get tired, obviously, but I'm enjoying being out there more instead of checking the distance on my phone constantly.

Which insole is right for me?

If your arch flattens or your feet roll inward, choose Flat & Low Arch. If you have a natural curve or a high arch, choose Regular & High Arch. Not sure? Take the wet footprint test above. It takes 30 seconds.

Will they fit in my hiking boots?

Yes. Remove your boot's original insole and slide SteadFeet in its place. Choose your normal shoe size. If you're between sizes, size up.

Can they help with heel pain or plantar fasciitis?

Many hikers with heel and arch pain feel better with firm arch support and heel cushioning, which is exactly what SteadFeet is built around. Insoles aren't a medical treatment, so if pain is severe or lasts, see a podiatrist or doctor.

How long do they last?

With regular hiking use, plan on replacing them about once a year, or sooner if the cushioning feels flat. Hand wash with mild soap and let them air dry.

Can I mix sizes or arch types in a bundle?

Yes. Add any sizes and either arch type to your cart and the bundle discount applies automatically. It's built for couples and hiking partners with different feet.

What if they don't work for me?

Every order comes with our 60-day trail guarantee. Email support@steadfeet.com within 60 days of delivery and we'll make it right. Shipping is always free.
